Trouble With Editing Video
I have been giving some video footage of the school show to put together in a short montage.
Normally, my process is to capture footage from a DV cassette using a firewire cable. I capture footage as mpeg because uncompressed footage requires 13 gb per hour. Then I splice it together with images and sound using MYDVD or Ulead before saving the final mix into mpeg and a burnt DVD. Recently, I have also been converting footage into mp4 to view on a video ipod.
The trouble is that the footage I have been given is in an obscure format – MOD. I can get Windows Media Player to open it but none of the editors like it. Therefore, I have been using 3GP, a freeware converter to convert it all into mpeg4, which can then be edited. This is taking a long time.
Working with video is always slow and fraught with hassle.
