Bad Japanese Restaurant Review
The virtue of Japanese food is its light, clean taste and elegant presentation in tasteful surroundings.
The Japanese restaurant at 794 Julu Lu have missed these points entirely. To start with, they need a few lessons on presentation. It is lit like a hospital waiting room and the salad was served on an ugly chipped, glass dish. It did not even taste very nice, being rather wilted and old. This set the tone for the rest of the meal. The herring roe sashimi was very salty. The eel rice set was bony and the cuttle-fish was rather rubbery. This is possibly the worst Japanese food that I have eaten since I have lived in Shanghai.
If you ever want me to come back, stop using such cheap, old ingredients. Avoid!
