Apple - IPhone
After much anticipation, Apple has finally launched its IPhone at MacWorld. For $499 this is what you get:
- 4GB Ipod music and video player with 3.5 inch widescreen display
- Cell phone
- Touch screen interface
- Built in OSX and web browser
- Email and contact management
- Wi-fi and Edge network support
- Improved user experience for organising voicemail and SMS
- Built in 2 megapixel camera
The 8GB model is $599. It will not be available in the US until June, which means it may come to China some time later. It is going to be a tough job for Apple to break into such a cut throat market as cell phones. The touch screen devices are going to get scratched very easily and I think it is quite expensive. There is no 3G support and there is a fixed lithium ion battery that runs for only 6 hours, even less if you watch videos on your IPhone. Nevertheless, its form factor and interface look really good so it could be a big hit especially as Apple are so good at marketing.
