Batteries are a headache, because they keep running out of power at really inconvenient moments. Battery technology can not keep up with the demands of new electronic products. They are also expensive and bad for the environment. Hopefully, this recharger that I heard about on the SlashDotReview netcast should help to solve this problem. It is a lithium ion polymer solar battery recharger that gets power from USB ports and can be used to give power to cell phones, PDAs, cameras and MP3 players for over 500 charges. It has just won an innovation award at this year’s CES and is expected to be released worldwide for around $50 in the spring. Hopefully, there will be enough sunshine in Shanghai to power this recharger.
