What’s New at Huashan Worldwide Medical Centre?
Today I went to the Worldwide Medical Centre at Huashan Hospital. The clinic is a private outpatient service offering treatment to foreigners by English speaking staff and it is much cheaper than either World Link or Shanghai East Medical Centre. I went to Huashan Hospital to treat the infected eczema on my right leg. The leg looks and feels disgusting. I am not going to post a picture of this ailment, because I still have some dignity, but you can use your imagination when I say it looks like an old man’s bed sore.
I went to the old international outpatient’s clinic and it has now moved. Now it is situated in building 1 on the 8th floor. The waiting room is more spacious than before and they even have American TV shows gazing at you like a panopticon from ubiquitous flat panel monitors. It looks more like an airport lounge than a hospital.
The doctor was Chinese, but her English was good enough to distinguish eczema from piles. The experience was just as pleasant as Shanghai East’s expat clinic, but the fees are a lot less. I paid 450 RMB for the consultation fee and medicine. Hopefully, my leg will get better too!
You used to have to rush home to get to the clinic before it closed at 5pm. Now it is open from 8am until 10pm. You can call the clinic for more information at 62489999. The address is Huashan Worldwide Medical Centre, Huashan Hospital, 12 Urumuqi Zhong Lu by the corner of Huashan Lu.
If you get alcohol poisoning at a Shanghaiist party, you can always go to the night emergency clinic in building 6 on the 15th floor.
