Surface Parody
Term is nearly over, but recently my students (aged 11 to 17) have been wowed by the latest product announcement from Microsoft to launch a multi-touch table computing platform called “Surface”. Here are some observations they made about this product concept.
- It is really cool
- It may not be on the market yet
- It is more expensive than $10 000 (It’s original listed price)
- You could use it for playing video games or doing schoolwork
The podosphere was a bit more cynical saying that they would trust it when they saw it, regarding Surface as hype similar to tablet computing that is still a niche more than five years after it was launched. Some people think Surface is an I-Phone spoiler, but it’s only going to be used in hotel and retail environments when it first comes out. It’s going to be a while before we see it in Hong Kong Plaza’s Cybermall.
Compare and contrast Microsoft’s promo video with Sarcastic Gamer’s parody, which is so funny that it has put me in a good mood ready for the summer holidays.
