Demoli-SH
We live within a stone’s throw of Nanpu Bridge, but our view of this landmark has been blocked by an old factory come slum tenement until this weekend when the demolition crews arrived to flatten the site. We now have a relatively clear view of the bridge and river, which is good for us but not for everyone. Where are the former tenants of this demolished building? They are almost certainly migrant workers earning less than a thousand RMB each month. Where is home now? Will this space become a block of flats, an office building, a shopping mall or a park? Look out for more evidence of gentrification around Lujiabang Lu.
