The new Iphone is out, although it is not yet on sale in China. David Feng of Techblog86 has been anticipating the imminent official release of the Iphone in China, although Dan Washburn of Shanghaiist has been assured by local vendors that the new Iphone will soon be selling on the local grey market once [...]

The 3G Iphone has just been unveiled by Steve Jobs at the WWDC. The world wide launch date is July 11th when it will go on sale in 70 markets including Canada, Hong Kong and Australia.
The inclusion of Chinese handwriting recognition suggests they have their eyes on the Middle Kingdom. If you ever go to [...]

Sanyo Xacti HD700
It’s ironic to use an Apple I-sight camera to make a short film about another camera, but short of filming it in the mirror, I didn’t know what else to use.
Forgive the pauses and repetitive use of “one final note” and “footage”. You get the idea that I like the Xacti, because it is portable, [...]

Evernote Update
My favourite piece of software at the moment is Evernote, because it is a ubiquitous tool that lets me grab notes from webpages, from my cellphone and desktop. I wrote about it here.
The service is still in beta, but the latest version has given me more space (200mb) and it lets me tag multiple notes. [...]

Cybermart Moves East
Huai Hai Lu’s Cybermart is moving from the junction of Huangpi Nan Lu to the corner of Xizang Lu, which is only a five minute walk away.
I saw the new site today, which looks cleaner and less cluttered than its predecessor. If you have been to the new electronics malls in Pudong’s Zhanyang Lu then [...]

Getting Rid Of Business Cards
How many business cards have you collected since you came to Shanghai?
My wallet should be bulging with cash. Instead it is full of rubbish and business cards or mingpians as they are called in China. Every shop, restaurant and individual will present you with their name card in an elaborate two handed exchange ritual copied [...]

Liberating Itunes
doubleTwist is DVD Jon’s latest venture into his fight against media digital rights management. He gained notereity nine years ago when he broke copy protection on DVDs.

Getting Phat and Browsing With Black No Thanks to Gizmo
Gizmoproject Update
I have raved about using the Skype alternative, Gizmoproject before. It runs on your cellphone using a java app called Gizmo5. The trouble is that you can no longer buy credit using Paypal, which makes it very diffcult to buy call out credit from China. You can pay using Google Checkout, but that service [...]
